  • John and Vida | MARRIED!

This past weekend, Alex Roy and I shot Vida and John’s wedding along with Carbon 14 Films doing the videography.   Let me tell you..  it was just amazing!!!  We had so much fun shooting this couple b/c they were totally into each other and so much of it was distraction free.  No bridal party to worry about.  No uncooperative ringbearers or flowergirls.. :)   Venue was beautiful and we also have Charlene Liang of Sweetchic Events to thank b/c the coordination of this wedding was a feat in itself.  With over 24 vendors, I’m any bride’s head would explode!  So if you’re a bride and you need someone dependable to take care of the job.  She’s the one!

Here’s a sample video done by the master … Josh from Carbon 14 Films:

here are some of my samples:

    enjoy!

  • Heather and David ENGAGED!

probably one of the most exciting couples i’ve ever shot… EVER. check out some samples and you’ll know what I mean.

loved this shot.  we climbed up to the train tracks near the west loop to get the last fleeting moments with the auburn sky.   the sun barely providing a bit of rim lighting to give them separation from the background:

i saw this sign and immediately had ill intentions.  they took it to the next level:

so everyone’s got one of these shots.  I love how they interact with each other so i thought what the heck… let’s get some more david’s in the shot each showing his interest in his lady.

found some random wooden chair under these train tracks for my signature pose.  she grabbed the crabgrass all on her own. genius!:

we had intentions of getting messed up during this photoshoot.  we knew we’d end up at a fire hydrant on this blistering hot chicago summer night so these were some of the moments of insanity.  at one point, i decided to take control of the hydrant and got soaked in the process. my second shooter mike got suckered into doing it too.  super fun time.  best way to cool off from a hot sweaty day:

Heather and David share a similar passion i have.  and that’s fixed gear bikes. i’ve been riding fixed gear only for about 2.5years now but i love riding with other people who have a serious passion for biking.  it was fitting that we met up together on bike for the photoshoot:

here i am riding brakeless, one-handed while looking back to compose and focus with the sun in the back.  i love their expressions here:

hope you enjoyed these samples…. wish them the best as they tie the knot July 3rd in Chicago.

    peace

  • There’s almost no way I can keep up with blogging and be able to pump out work this season. It’s now wedding season and I’m pretty much booked to the point where I feel like i need a vacation bad! I’d love it if a wedding client can fly me out to their honeymoon with them :)

This couple is planning a two week trip to southern France after their wedding. Congrats on your engagement Amanda and Levi!

  • Masha and Jason Smith | Married!!!

There are times when you can predict how a photo will look by arranging a pose and hoping for something magical to happen.  This photo below from this past weekend’s wedding was one of those unplanned moments that just made me bust out in laughter.  The bride handed off the flower to the kid and I was planning to shoot a tight crop of them kissing against that wall.  When the kid saw them kissing, I think he didn’t want any part of holding that flower anymore.  Magical and comical at the same time.

    thanks for looking.

  • The Crown and Two Chairmen

So my buddy Ken Bonner, the guy who built my custom guitar amp is in his own post-rock instrumental band called The Crown and Two Chairmen  (http://www.myspace.com/thecrownandtwochairmen).  They just had their first show last week and it was simply amazing.  I love their music and the guys in the band.  I had the honor of capturing their first show together.

Here are some photos of TCATC with Columbian Exposition opening for them.

  • New Orleans, Louisiana|Mobile, Alabama

So I just got back from a fun trip down south.  I primarily went down to that area to shoot a friend’s wedding. I had an amazing time with some good folks and wonderful food.  Here are a couple of pics from my trip:

this restaurant I ate at called The Court of Two Sisters.  Great food!

I met this street musician and talked to him for a while.  his name was patrick and he was from chicago:

here’s a random shot from the streets of new orleans:

a shot of some random doors in the French Quarters:

storefronts and restaurants in New Orleans:

  • John+Vida and Destination!

It’s moments like this that make esessions at the zoo so fun and unpredictable.  Vida and John really really love animals.  I should say John more so that Vida that is.  Vida thinks that John would have a better esession with his pet dog than with her.  hahaha  One things’ for sure, they both have an affinity towards gibbons.  These little guys were so entertaining.  I was shocked at how fast they swung from one vine to the next.  Anyways, one of them came up to the window right up to Vida and gave her a high five.  The timing of this capture was perfect!

    it’s a jungle out there!

It’s gonna be a crazy week coming up.  I fly out to New Orleans and Mobile, Alabama for a wedding.  Gotta get my gear ready for the first wedding of the year.  Wish me luck.  I’ll need your prayers to make it through. I’m so tired and out of shape from all this winter fat.  I gotta get back into “A” game mode.

peace out!  follow me through New Orleans and Mobile, Alabama this weekend:  http://www.twitter.com/secondprint
